Obituary

Sammy Lane (Freeman) Tadlock, former resident of Menlo Park and Mountain View, passed away peacefully at her home in Luxemburg, Wisconsin on Feb. 28, 2016 after an illness. A thoughtful, strong and courageous woman, she touched the lives of many in her 79 years on this earth. She believed in being proud of your accomplishments but never boastful and most who met her never knew of the many varied things she did during her life.

Sammy was born in Oklahoma on Jan. 13, 1937 and spent most of her life in California. Her career also sent her to live in England twice, experiences that she valued and that changed her life forever. In 1996 she moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her only child, Kimberly. She graduated from Menlo Atherton High School in 1955. Sammy worked for Philco/Ford Aerospace and Communications/Loral for over 32 years and was very proud of her accomplishments there. She was a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Menlo Park in the 1970's. Sammy took Special Early Retirement in 1992 allowing her time to travel, garden, sew and dabble in all kinds of crafts. While living in England, Sammy and Kimberly traveled throughout Britain and Europe. The one place she wanted to visit, but was never able due to her job, was Ireland. She also went to the Holy Land with a group from the Palo Alto Baptist Church. A seamstress all of her life, she enjoyed sewing for herself and others. Her gardens were beautiful and there were always flowers in her home. She loved animals of all kind and she and her cats enjoyed watching the many wild creatures that visited her yard.

Sammy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (John) Lyon of Casco, WI and many nieces and nephews. She also shared her home with two cats, Missie and Susie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Charles A. Freeman; brothers John and Albert Freeman; sisters Frances Pearson, Georgia Jackson and Grace Daggett.

Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family. Online condolences welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneral Home.com

Her wish was to have her ashes scattered under the Golden Gate Bridge, to come back to the place she called home. Private celebrations of Sammy's life will be planned. If you wish to honor her, a donation to your favorite charity or an animal shelter or rescue in your area in her name is favored.
