Obituary

Sandra Johanek, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 13, surrounded by family at Aurora Hospital Green Bay, WI. Born November 1, 1938, to Franklin and Fern Struck in Kewaunee, WI. A 1956 Kewaunee HS graduate, who on May 21, 1960, married Jacob Johanek at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Green Bay.

Sandra worked at Green Bay Food until her husband got called to military duty at Fort Lewis, Washington in October 1961, where they lived for a year in Tacoma, Washington. Returning to Green Bay, Sandra became a hardworking, devoted, caring, homemaker who also held various retail jobs including Shopko Pharmacy, Kohl's and Northwest Fabrics, and was a nutritional counselor as well. Sandra volunteered for a variety of school and community organizations, including 20 years at the Green Bay Police Department.

Her magnetic smile and "happy-go-lucky" spirit were infectious to everyone she met. Sandra had an artistic touch who enjoyed cooking, sewing and maintaining a beautiful flower garden every year. She also loved to travel, especially enjoying 12 trips to Jamaica, Mexico, and other Caribbean destinations, 25 years camping in the Minocqua, WI area, particularly at her favorite Firefly Lake, and snowmobiling for over 50 years. And Sandra loved to polka!
