Shirley M. Hug, age 85, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025.

Shirley was married for more than 53 years to her beloved husband, Gordy, who preceded her in death, along with their firstborn son, who passed away in his first year of life. Shirley devoted her life to caring for others. She dedicated her years to raising her three living sons—Bryan, Allen, and Dale—and later extended that care beyond her family.

Shirley worked in the school system, assisting children, and later served as a caregiver to the elderly, receiving multiple awards in recognition of her compassionate service. She eventually retired to provide full-time care and unwavering support to her husband during his years of declining health, remaining devoted to him until his passing.

Shirley would want to be remembered for always putting her family and friends first. She was artistic and enjoyed artwork, knitting, traveling, Door County, Green Bay Packer games, pets, and—most of all—time spent with her family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Allen; her daughter-in-law, Yaprak; and her husband, Gordy.

She is survived by her sons: Bryan (Marlies), along with granddaughters Cassandra and Constantina and great-granddaughters Charolet and Sophia; son Allen, with granddaughter Cyndy; and son Dale. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia and Mary (Bernie), as well as many other family members and friends.

"I truly found something special in all of you and would have liked to spend more time with you. Death leaves a memory no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

A memorial service for Shirley will be held at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home East, 2379 East Mason Street, on Thursday, January 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a service at 12:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established in Shirley's name at the funeral home. Any donations would be greatly appreciated by the family.
