Stanley George Jones, age 79, of Suamico, passed unexpectedly at his home on Friday, August 28, 2015, of natural causes. He was born on February 7, 1936 in Price County, Knox, WI, to the late George and Elena (Koski) Jones. Stanley graduated from Tomahawk High School Class of 1954. He joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard in 1953 just before graduating high school. Stanley served 8 years as a Specialist Second Class in Company C lst Medium Tank Battalion 632D Combat Arms Regiment, Specialist 3D class in Co.C 132D Tank Battalion, and PVT E-2 before being honorably discharged. He married Gloria Gallagher in 1959. Stanley held mechanic's jobs in Tomahawk, WI, before getting a converting mechanic's job at Fort Howard/Georgia Pacific, where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 2004. Stanley enjoyed hunting with his father and brothers in his younger years in Tomahawk, WI. He later loved fishing, being outdoors, having family get-togethers, yard work around his house, and making firewood with his son, Don. Stanley enjoyed the annual Oconto Fly-In where he would exchange stories with the other veterans there. He battled cancer for three years and was getting ahead of it until his passing. Stanley was the most reliable, dependable person you ever met. He was always there for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, as heaven gets a new angel. Stanley is survived by his children: Debra Jones, Diana Jones-Graef, Donald Jones, Dale (Heather) Jones, Douglas Jones and Donna Jones; his former wife, Gloria Jones (Gallagher); Grandchildren: Brad Graef, Julie Graef, Sarah Graef, Kimberly Graef-Tackmier, Tyler Hurning, Ciara Jones, Austin Jones, Brenden Jones, and Kiana Jones; Great-grandchildren: Corbin and Colin Tackmeier, and Broc and Kenzie Graef; sister, Sally Hatina (Fred); brothers: Terry Jones (Judy), Richard Jones, Kenneth Jones (Maxine), William Jones (Irma); numerous nieces, nephews and friends, and his cat "Willow". He was preceded in death by George and Elena (Koski) Jones and Grace (Jones) Seichter and Herb; John and Bernadine (Menting) Gallagher. Family and friends may call at Fort Howard Memorial Park Chapel, 1350 N Military Ave., Green Bay on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Funeral Service at 12:00 noon followed by Military Honors. Special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's-Green Bay Oncology and Dr. Jaslowski in all their care of Stanley during his cancer battle.
