Steven John Meyers, Sr., age 61, of Suamico, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Steve was born on September 23, 1965, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Victor and Greta Meyers. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1984, where he played football and basketball, was a member of the yearbook and drama clubs, and established lifelong friendships.
He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in religious studies from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, in 1988, where he met the love of his life and best friend, Sue. They were inseparable from the moment they met and for the 39 years of marriage that followed.
He continued his education, earning a master’s degree in theological studies in 1993 from St. Norbert College and a second master’s degree in administrative leadership in 1997 from Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. In 2000, he earned a superintendent specialist’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Steve was a man of strong Catholic faith, unwavering optimism, and a genuine love for others. He had a remarkable ability to find humor in almost any situation and appreciate the little things in life. Even during life's most difficult moments, Steve's positive attitude and sense of levity remained a defining part of who he was.
Education was more than a career for Steve; it was his passion and calling. He dedicated more than 25 years of his life to serving as a school principal, leaving a lasting impact on countless teachers, faculty, students, and families. Steve believed deeply in the power of education and the importance of helping every student reach their full potential. He was equally passionate about supporting and encouraging his teachers, recognizing the important role they played in shaping young lives. He took pride in building meaningful relationships with his staff, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear whenever needed.
Outside of his professional life, Steve had a passion for traveling, reading, woodworking, Wisconsin sports, and photography. He was always eager to offer one of his signature “dad jokes.” Above all else, Steve's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, cherished brother, and loving dog dad to Rex. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with those he loved. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Sue Meyers; their children, Steven (Alex Jeszeck) Meyers of Maryland, Brittany (Andy) Orlowski of Sun Prairie, Rachel (Cal) Frederick of Texas, and Kendra (Evan) Harley of Howard; and his eight beloved grandchildren, Henry, Lucy, Mervin, Ayla, Ainslee, Asher, Grahm, and baby Frederick. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Bonnie) Meyers, Thomas (Susan) Meyers, and Vicki Meyers. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Donna Paiser, and his in-laws, Lynn Meyers, Donna Meyers, Joe (Linda) Tomasiewicz, John (Diane) Tomasiewicz, and Julie Tomasiewicz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Greta Meyers; his brothers, Dave and Mark Meyers; and his fathers-in-law, Ron Paiser and James Tomasiewicz.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a 12:00 p.m. Mass and luncheon to follow at Saints Edward & Isidore Parish, 3667 Flintville Road, Suamico, WI 54313.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saints Edward & Isidore Parish, the Howard-Suamico Education Foundation, and The ALS Association in Steve's memory.
Special thanks to Steve and Sue’s family and friends, the Bay View Middle School family, the Howard-Suamico School District, Froedtert ALS Clinic providers, and Unity Hospice Care. Above all, heartfelt gratitude goes to Sue for her unwavering love, strength, and devotion as she cared for Steve.
Steve's legacy will not be measured simply by the years he lived but by the countless lives he inspired, the laughter he shared, and his joyful outlook on life. Though ALS may have taken his physical strength, it could never take away his faith, love for family, or the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
