Susan A. (Thomas) Ross, 84, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024 at Woodside Manor, with her family by her side. She was born January 8, 1940 to the late John and Ethel (Larson) Thomas in Helena, Montana. Susan graduated from "Holy Names College" in Spokane, Washington, with a BS in Education. She taught Home Economics and English in the states of Washington and California. Sue traveled to Fukuoka, Japan where she taught at the Itazuke Air Force Base. One Sunday at church, she met the love of her life, Ron, from Milwaukee, WI, who was stationed at Itazuke in 1965. They were married on October 14, 1967, at the Cathedral of St. Helena in Helena, MT.
Susan was an extremely active person – she loved to ski, play tennis, and was a champion golfer. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, as well as spending time with her family. She was quite the seamstress and cook, and enjoyed hosting dinner parties.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald, of Howard, WI; son, Michael (Rhonda) Ross of Suamico, WI; daughter, Terri (Gregory) Augustine of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren, Emily, Erin, Ana, and Thomas; siblings, Dr. John P. (Anne) Thomas of Wauwatosa, WI and Kathy (Craig) Wentzel of Monument, CO. She is further survived by many more family and friends. Susan is preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, with a prayer service to follow. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 15 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave (entrance directly across from the BP gas station) with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow.
