Obituary

Willard "Bill" Olson, 83, of Howard, WI, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026. Bill was born on August 8, 1942, to Carl and Armella Olson. He lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, his profession, and his community.

Bill shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Darlene. Together, they built a life across several communities, including Racine, Wisconsin; Baltimore, Maryland; Rockford, Illinois; Cedar Falls, Iowa; and ultimately settled in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where they made their home.

Professionally, Bill was highly respected in his field, serving as president of the Fluid Power Society. He was also deeply involved in his community, contributing his time and leadership to the Cedar Falls Chamber of Commerce.

Outside of his work, Bill found great joy in fishing. Living in Green Bay allowed him to pursue his passion often, and he treasured every opportunity to be out on the water. He was an avid woodworker and worked on countless projects with, and for, his children and grandchildren creating beautiful lasting family heirlooms. They always included several extra trips to the hardware store.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene; his children, Peter (Lisa) Olson, Amy Catherine Olson (Deb Williams), and Willard Joseph Olson; his grandchildren, Lauren Olson (Ben Tibbs) and CJ Olson (Meaghan Leary); and his sister, Beverly (Al) Rago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Eilene (Jim) Shadler and Phylis (Carl) Bauer; and his brothers, Donnie (Sherry) Olson and Gene (Dorma) Olson.

Bill's legacy of love, commitment, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew him. He says goodbye to all of his many friends from many places.
